The Facebook ghostwriter for Sarah Palin has put Palin’s two cents in on the Quran burning set to take place on 9-11. (Or maybe one cent, since she can’t get more than half of anything accomplished.) It seems that practicing religious intolerance is only acceptable when Palin herself does it. Not one to be trumped by Pastor Terry Jones and the Dove World congregation, her ghostwriter posted the following message:
“Koran Burning Is Insensitive, Unnecessary; Pastor Jones, Please Stand Down
Book burning is antithetical to American ideals.”
Palin translation: “Darn! Why didn’t I think of that!?”
By the way, book burning is antithetical to American ideals, but mulling over the censorship of books in a public library as a mayor is perfectly acceptable. Just saying….
“People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation – much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.”
Ah, there it is. See what she did there? Palin can now have it both ways: condemn one form of religious intolerance, while remaining steadfast in her own religious intolerance all at the same time. The statement also allows her to place the blame for everything right back on that Mosque at Ground Zero. (Except it’s not a mosque, and not at Ground Zero.) Those “not a mosque” builders have only themselves to blame for the proposed burning of their holy book. If you build it, books will burn!
“I would hope that Pastor Terry Jones and his supporters will consider the ramifications of their planned book-burning event. It will feed the fire of caustic rhetoric and appear as nothing more than mean-spirited religious intolerance.”
That’s MY job!
“Don’t feed that fire.”
Let me do it.
“If your ultimate point is to prove that the Christian teachings of mercy, justice, freedom, and equality provide the foundation on which our country stands, then your tactic to prove this point is totally counter-productive.
Our nation was founded in part by those fleeing religious persecution. Freedom of religion is integral to our charters of liberty. We don’t need to agree with each other on theological matters, but tolerating each other without unnecessarily provoking strife is how we ensure a civil society. In this as in all things, we should remember the Golden Rule. Isn’t that what the Ground Zero mosque debate has been about?
– Sarah Palin”
See there? Simply remember the Golden Rule. If you don’t want your Quran reduced to ashes, don’t build a mosque! It’s that easy in Sarah’s demented little world.
I find it just a little odd that Sarah is so very concerned about the building of the “not a mosque, not at Ground Zero” though. After all, the non-mosque will be built in New York, and as we all learned during her festive hate speeches from the campaign trail, New York isn’t “real America” anyway, so why would she worry about such a thing?
That brings me to another subject. 9-11. As if it weren’t bad enough that Palin and her evil twin, Glenn Beck, were recently “restoring honor” while attempting to set back civil rights a few days ago, now they’ve decided to top that by exploiting 9-11 as well. Here is the snake oil sales pitch she made to her easily duped followers from her Facebook FOX-built bunker in the Last Frontier. (It seems as if even FOX wants to keep her as far away as possible while they all carry on with their mutual exploitation projects.)
Glenn Beck Visits Alaska On 9-11
Glenn’s coming to the Last Frontier! I hope my fellow Alaskans (and anyone visiting from Outside) will join me this Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Anchorage’s Dena’ina Center at 8:00 p.m. Glenn Beck will be there – you won’t want to miss it. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will “never forget.” Hope to see you there!
– Sarah Palin
Yes. Leave it to Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck to find a way to put the words “Ticketmaster” and “9-11” together in one tidy little paragraph. All in the name of “commemorating 9-11 with patriots who will never forget.” Never one to squander resources, Palin can fire up her base-bots AND rob them blind by charging them hefty ticket prices, all for the privilege of hearing her screech out all those demented American ideals of hers. (I’m sorry, “i-dils.”)
Yes, tolerance has a price, but you would think that by exploiting the deaths of 3,000 Americans, tolerance of Palin and Beck would also have an expiration date.
Turning 9-11 into a carnival road show. For cash.
They. Are. Pathetic.
