I think the risk involved depends on whether you’re the purger or the….purge-e?
Fresh from the files of “Be Careful What You Wish For” Marco Rubio has picked up a hefty endorsement from another member of the Republican Party. Dick Cheney.
“We can trust Marco to stand up to the Obama agenda that threatens our freedom, and promote clear conservative alternatives,” Cheney said in a statement released by the Rubio campaign.
Cheney also implied Crist is guided more by polls than principles.
“Charlie Crist has shown time and again that he cannot be trusted in Washington to take on the Obama agenda because on issue after issue he actually supports that agenda,” Cheney said. “Lately it seems Charlie Crist cannot be trusted even to remain a Republican.”
He urged Crist, who is considering running as an independent candidate, to either stay in the Republican primary or drop out of the race, saying a three-way race would benefit Democrats. U.S. Rep.Kendrick Meek is the Democratic front-runner.
Gosh Lord Voldemort, that almost sounds like a threat!
That’s really some endorsement coming from a guy who is also neither a conservative himself, nor a fan of freedom (for others), and as for “trust?” Well, no need to explain why we needn’t even go there.
Coming from the “King Of GOP-TV FOX,” AND the most unpopular Vice President we’ve ever had, what’s not to love? Even better, he joins that list of also unpopular former losers like Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee. There’s also the other loser of that group, John McCain, but he can’t seem to make up his mind these days. When last we heard from him on the subject though, he grumbled that he “only supports Republicans” so we can probably add him as well.
The pressure is now on Marco, and I don’t think we have to tell you what happens to those who don’t worship at the “altar of the Cheney” after winning him over and accepting an endorsement like that.
“It’s just another Washington politician telling Florida what to do. I don’t think Floridians appreciate it. It doesn’t matter,” Crist said of Cheney’s endorsement while speaking to reporters outside the Capitol.
That’s one cool, calm and collective shrug off. Crist seems quite liberated by the recent turn of events. A veritable “kiss-off” to Cheney can only earn him even more points with voters in Florida.
Since Rubio really has no plan and appears to have no mind of his own, he’ll be quite pliable and easily shaped to fit the “Dark Lord’s” agenda, and Marco won’t have to worry that empty little head of his about thinking ever again! It’s a win-win! Well, unless…..
According to TPM, Charlie Crist’s favorability numbers are improving:
Now that big Dick has endorsed Rubio, it’s almost looking like a given that Charlie’s numbers will only improve now.
Marco Rubio? Meet the new overlord. Same as the old overlord.
