Once again Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) is working against his constituents.
Throughout the health care debate and negotiations in Congress over the past year he flip-flopped around for some time and then as usual voted in favor of the health insurance companies instead of doing what was right for those in Florida who really need health care reform, or health insurance period.
Now he’s doing it again. Apparently spooked by the election in Massachusetts last week, he’s now more concerned with Democrats winning elections than getting real health care reform, and pretty much anything else, for an undetermined amount of time…I guess:
“I think the President is going to have to scale back his agenda after we pass health care reform,” Nelson said during an appearance on “Good Morning America.”
“Then I think some of those folks we think are in danger like Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, I think you’ll see they’re going to win,” Nelson added, making reference to the Senate majority leader, whose poll numbers have shown a tough reelection battle looms this fall.
Nelson, a relatively centrist Democrat, suggested that while Obama has centrist instincts, he’s allowing the party’s liberal base to exert too much influence.
“I think he’s allowed the left-wing pull him too much in that direction,” Nelson said.
What “party liberals,” and what influence is he talking about? I seem to have missed those big liberal changes in the agenda.
What makes Nelson, and the majority of other Democrats in Congress these days think that doing nothing will earn them our loyalty in their next election? NO! That’s not the way it works. Nelson joins the others in Congress who aren’t getting the message. We want them to DO SOMETHING. Do MORE! They aren’t doing enough and that, more than anything will cost them their seats.
Do less? Slow down? What’s next, stop and reverse?
Grow a spine and pay attention Sen. Nelson! You’re NOT helping.
