From the latest Quinnipiac Poll:
Gov. Charlie Crist’s lead over Marco Rubio for the Republican U.S. Senate race has been cut in half from 55-26% to 50-35%.
Now Crist is pulling out all the stops to change the numbers.
Last Feb. when President Obama visited Florida to pitch his economic stimulus plan, Charlie embraced him and the plan. Now that Crist’s numbers are down with Republicans, he’s changed his tune and when President Obama makes another visit to Florida next week, Crist won’t be meeting with him. Earlier in the week, Crist also launched a radio ad claiming Obama was “trying to spend our way to prosperity.”
Crist has also started to reach out to the Christian right in order to boost his numbers.
If Rubio continues to lead Crist, it’s probably just a matter of time before he goes full wing-nut.
Meanwhile, Florida just posted the highest jobless rates on record since 1976.
