Boy I’ll tell you, that Virginia Foxx (R-NC) is one tough nut to crack. I mean that literally too, because there are a whole lotta’ nuts in Congress but they’d have to be REALLY tough, make that downright mean, to out-crazy this one. Let me refresh your memory. Virginia Foxx is the charmer who has voted against things like aid for Hurricane Katrina victims, extension of the Voting Rights Act, and she opposed the Matthew Shepard Act saying that Mr. Shepard wasn’t murdered because he was gay. She argued that his murder was not a hate crime, but rather a hoax, and she did so in front of his mother. More recently, and here’s a shocker, during the debates over health care reform she sided with the delusional “Death Panel” wing of the GOP, the “Deathers” I believe they’re referred to.
In other words, when it comes to hypocrisy and irrational ideas? Sign her up! As for logic and common sense? Meh.
It should probably come as no surprise then that a State Of The Union address given by an intellectual President like Obama would not impress her in the least. Especially coming on the heels of so many given by George W. Bush who has the mind of a turnip. Nope, Virgina’s not buyin’ it:
Yeah! “Uninspiring! Talk is cheap! Where’s the beef?”
Meanwhile, later at the Grand Obstructionist Party’s Issues Conference, during the question and answer session there’s this: “Another lecture! Pshaw! Wrong answer! Where’s the independent fact checker? C’mon! Does anyone have a fact checker? Does anyone have a…….ooh! Oh my, does anyone have a pen?”
